Forage value number 7

Annual ryegrass is a non-winterhardy top-grass. The grass forms leafy tussocks and is mainly cultivated as an intercrop. With sufficient nutrient and water supply, annual ryegrass produces high dry matter yields, which can be further increased with short-lived clovers. Furthermore, this species can be used as a cover crop for early-season sowings in permanent grassland or for green manure.
