Especially in potato cultivation a good soil structure is important. This can be enhanced by establishing companion plants in potato fields. Greened potato ridges have a strong and positive influence on the soil temperature. Through the interaction of the different plant species with the soil, the nutrient dynamics can be balanced throughout the whole vegetative period. The variety of species within the companion plant mixture ensures a diversified food source for soil organisms. The high amount of legumes has a positive impact on the C/N-level.
