The record temperatures above 30 degrees in the summer 2018 were a tough test for all turfgrass areas. The damages of these areas range from small spots to large-scale burned areas. Is it possible that turfgrass regenerates itself after such extreme damages?
In general  turfgrasses are strong types of plants to regenerate itself after periods of hot temperatures and drought. Due to the exceptional conditions of summer 2018 turfgrasses partly are not able to regenerate itselves.

Appropriate to the period reseeding have to be done in autumn each year or in spring. Because of good ground conditions and increasing rainfall, both times are best for reseeding. Out of a turfgrass cover, which seems to be much more dull and needy after winter, spring is, especially for customers, the strongest time of reseeding. In case of summer 2018 winter and summer covers look very similar out of climate conditions.

A lot of reseeding products to rescue a perfect area of turfgrass are existing. One tip of Lars Obernolte, PM Turf: “Because of low temperature conditions, turfgrass varieties with a high ability to start germination under cold temperature conditions are excellent components for turfgrass mixtures. I recommend our varieties Tetrasport and Pollen. Both of them start germination in spring very fast and customers would be grateful with them.” The DSV predicts on strong sales in spring 2019 for reseeding periods.
